U.S. Rep. Knollenberg pushes opponent Peters for what-if vote on bailout

Former state senator wouldn’t answer on radio but tells Free Press ‘yes’ By KATHLEEN GRAY • Free Press Staff Writer • October 8, 2008 Would he or wouldn’t he? That was the question U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg posed to reporters this afternoon regarding his Democratic opponent, Gary Peters, a former state senator and lottery commissioner. In a radio interview Tuesday, Peters wouldn’t say if he would have voted for the $700-billion bailout bill. Peters said in the interview on WWJ-AM (950) that the initial bailout bill had some significant problems he would have wanted to fix before voting for the bill. “Being a leader is not being simplistic about complex problems,” Peters said.
