THE ASSOCIATED PRESS • October 8, 2008 New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had surgery on his left knee a month after a season-ending injury, according to a published report. The Boston Globe reported on Wednesday that the surgery was performed on Monday in Los Angeles. Asked if he had talked to Brady since the surgery, Brady's replacement, Matt Cassel, said on Wednesday that he put in a phone call. "I haven't gotten a return phone call yet," Cassel said. "I'm sure he's just resting." Patriots spokesman Stacey James declined to comment. Coach Bill Belichick refused comment during his regular news conference on Wednesday at San Jose State, where the team is practicing for Sunday's game at the San Diego Chargers.
