Sourav Ganguly is well-known for timing his shots. He timed everything to perfection but he has bowled a googly to the national selectors by announcing his retirement from Test cricket after the series against Australia. Mind you, he wasn’t even in the camp and when the new selectors picked him for the Tests, they did so for the two Tests only. Now with his announcement of retirement after the series, Ganguly has put pressure on the selection committee to pick him for the additional two Tests. When the Vengsarkar led committee didn’t pick Ganguly for the Irani Trophy and two side games against Australia, there was no way Ganguly could have staged a comeback but with a change in the selection committee, Ganguly managed to be back in the Indian side.
