Virtalis creates a walk-in virtual engine plant

SALE-based virtual reality company Virtalis has built a reputation for redefining the way manufacturing industries go about their business, and a new collaboration with the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and Boeing is another step on the path. AMRC's new £10m facility, Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future, is to be opened by Prince Andrew this week. With collaborations with the Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems, British Nuclear Fuels and the British Geological Survey, Virtalis has installed its latest StereoWorks active virtual reality system at AMRC's site. It will allow researchers to view and manipulate very large files converted into 3D virtual models.
