Non-Invasive Test for Down Syndrome, OTC Cough & Cold Meds Not For Those Under Age 4, Painkillers...

From California - According to research in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers have developed a non-invasive test for detecting chromosomal disorders such as Down Syndrome in a fetus. The new method looks for the occurrence of abnormalities in the number of fetal chromosomes, and only requires a sample of the pregnant woman's blood. Due to the non-invasive nature of this test it does not carry the risk for miscarriage like other methods.
