The "center of the universe" could be the next location for pay-parking machines. But Fremont, one of Seattle's more eclectic neighborhoods, isn't completely ready. The city says more vehicles are parking longer than the posted times in one- and two-hour spaces in the neighborhood. It proposes installing pay-parking stations in an area roughly between North 34th and 36th streets and First Avenue Northwest and Aurora Avenue North. "Parking really is in crisis in Fremont," said city transportation spokesman Rick Sheridan. The city says parking areas along most blocks are 75 percent full most of the day, and some were 80 percent full during lunch hours.
