Jamie Jones The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners voted 4-0 Monday night to dissolve the five-member recreation commission and create a parks and recreation commission of up to 15 members. Chairman Brian Anderson votes only to break ties. The parks and recreation commission will receive “regular” reports from the county parks and recreation director about the operations of the department. The county currently does not have a parks and recreation director, but has narrowed the list of candidates to three. The parks and recreation commission will in turn make recommendations to the board of commissioners. That process is similar to what the five-member commission did.
