7. Asian markets apper headed for another slide Tuesday

WELLINGTON: New Zealand's stock market hit a three-year low Tuesday, dropping 2.67 percent within half an hour of opening as investors reacted to falls on U.S. and European markets overnight amid signs that global growth will slow sharply as the financial crisis continues. The New Zealand Exchange's benchmark NZX-50 index slid 79.18 points to 2,969.2 points in the first 30 minutes of trading - a three year low for the market. The slide followed a 5.84 percent decline in its level during trading on Friday and Monday. On Wall Street, the blue chip Dow finished down about 370 points at 9,955.50, and the losses spread across Europe - nearly 6 percent. Share prices on the London Stock Exchange closed sharply down Monday. The FTSE 100-share index closed down 391.06 points at 4,589.19. The German DAX was down more than 9 percent....
