Published: Oct. 6, 2008 at 7:50 PM NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- "Read 'em before you eat 'em," or tally the calories before forking the food at chain restaurants, New York City's health department is advising people. The new advertising campaign began Monday to help New Yorkers make the most of the city's calorie-posting rules -- by law, chain restaurants now must post food item calorie counts on menus and menu boards. The five ads appearing in subway cars are designed to help people see how quickly fast-food calories add up and drive home the message that some foods can have deceptively high calorie counts.
