The number of crimes committed by children has dropped by 36 percent in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, according to Diyarbakır Provincial Social Services Director Oktay Taş. Citing data provided by the Diyarbakır Police Department’s Juvenile Division, Taş said the number of children involved in crime, mostly purse snatching, decreased to 316 in 2007, compared to 504 in 2006.
