Ireland escapes brunt of eBay job cuts

eBay has announced that it is laying off 10% of its workforce, about 1,000 permanent employees and several hundred temporary workers. A spokesperson for eBay in Ireland says there will be fewer than 10 job losses here. eBay employs 1,600 people in Ireland in its eBay and PayPal divisions. Separately, Ireland West Airport Knock has confirmed that up to 14 staff will be made redundant after a staffing review. The airport cited uncertainty in the aviation sector, the wider economic outlook and seasonal factors for the cuts.
