Convenience stores becoming convenient targets in Elkhart

Someone tried to rob one Monday morning, but the would-be robbers couldn't get inside. Authorities think the same people may be behind many of the robberies that have occurred in Elkhart over the past two months. "I would think some of them are connected, but I will leave that up to the police," said DeWayne Sharp. Sharp is the manager of a convenience store on the city's north side. Early Monday morning, two men with masks were seen walking toward the front door of his store. A lone clerk was inside. "And it just so happened he had the doors locked because he was cleaning an area and two individuals came up," Sharp explained. "One looked like he was carrying a weapon and they got to the door and thank goodness, it was locked." The pair ran off.
