Reds infielder scorches through September to earn Award MLB Headlines CINCINNATI -- Reds first baseman Joey Votto won't find out for a few weeks if he snagged any votes for National League Rookie of the Year Award. In the meantime, however, Votto was named the NL Rookie of the Month for September presented by Gillette. In an effort that might have helped his chances to overtake Rookie of the Year favorite Geovany Soto, Votto batted .309 (29-for-94) in September with nine home runs and 20 RBIs in 25 games.
