Phone war

ASHWINI PRASAD Tuesday, October 07, 2008 THE entry of Digicel into the telecommunications industry has triggered lower call charges and mobile phone prices. The advertising industry yesterday described the competition between the three companies as "communication war". The Consumer Council of Fiji warned consumers that there are barriers to competition and it bars consumers from doing certain things. Competition war between the three companies - Digicel Fiji Limited, Vodafone Fiji and Inkk - started with a slash in mobile prices, call rates, competing promotions and increased advertising campaigns. Fiji Advertising Association president Nathan Hildebrand said a random sample of recent television advertising activity across the two commercial free-to-air stations saw that the three mobile operators dominated almost 15 per cent...
