Grim US Open draw for Aussie girls

THE US Open draw has been cruel to Aussie Casey Dellacqua ¿ and even nastier to her compatriot Samantha Stostur. Dellacqua gets to play a qualifier the first round, but then faces the prospect of meeting world No.1 Ana Ivanovic in the second round. World No.44 Dellacqua will go into next week's grand slam as Australia's top-ranked player following the injury-forced withdrawal of Lleyton Hewitt. But she will find it difficult to continue her run of making the third round or better in grand slams this year with Serbian Ivanovic likely awaiting the 23-year-old Australian. Samantha Stosur has fared even worse, with the world No.71 drawn to meet seventh seed Venus Williams in the opening round.
