MIAMI (CBS4) ― The State Attorney's Office announced a foiled plot by a man to kill a Miami-Dade Police officer who was in imminent danger, based on several recorded phone conversations from the Federal Detention Center in Downtown Miami. Based on several recorded phone conversations from the Federal Detention Center at 33 NE 4th Street in Miami, and info received from a  letter, an investigation was started on the alleged conspiracy to murder MDPD Officer Nelson Rodriguez, who is stationed at the Northside District 2950 NW 83rd Street. According to their investigation, 18-year-old Mackendy Venant, along with another suspect who is serving time in jail—and who police will only ID as "Raymond"—had plans to acquire AK-47 high powered rifles and had already acquired a handgun.
