Glenville State College has joined the growing number of colleges that are taking away the cafeteria tray. The Gilmer County college cites potential savings in water and energy costs for eliminating trays from its on-campus cafeteria. It's also reduced food waste and the use of detergents from dishwashing. Glenville State senior Tashua Allman says students initially complained when the trays were removed in the spring. But they've since accepted the practice after learning why it's being done. Glenville is among 500 institutions nationwide that use Philadelphia-based vendor Aramark. The company says the initiative was part of an Earth Day promotion in April. It estimates at least half of its 500 campus partners nationwide will say nay to trays when classes resume...
