The Heat signed free agent Yakhouba Diawara away from the Denver Nuggets with the hopes of landing the type of defensive stopper the team has lacked in recent seasons. Diawara, a 6 foot 7 native of Paris, was signed for the remainder of the Heat's mid-level salary-cap exception, a guaranteed contract worth about $800,000 for next season, as part of a two-year deal. It is the latest move in a high-volume bid to upgrade a team that went a league-worst 15-67 last season, coming on the heels of Tuesday's signing of journeyman swingman Bobby Jones.
