Joe (Nicolas Cage) goes to Bangkok for a job but instead gets embroiled in a messy situation, in Bangkok Dangerous. IS remaking a successful movie a good thing? Director Gus Van Sant copied Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho frame for frame but his version was by far a lesser one. Then there’s Martin Scorsese who won Oscars for his effort, The Departed, which is the Americanised version of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs. Whether The Departed was good or not, well, it all depends on who you ask really. Now, Peter Jackson took a complex love story to a whole new level when he remade King Kong. There is also a slew of Asian horrors including Dark Water, The Grudge, The Ring and Shutter that got the Hollywood treatment, for better or for worse.
