The giant panda is a great source of pride for the people of China and has for many years been closely associated with wildlife conservation. There have been hundreds of television documentaries, books, magazine articles and other attention given to this beautiful, mysterious endangered species. The panda is so synonymous with the endangered species conservation movement it was chosen as the symbol for the World Wildlife Fund, arguably the planet's most prominent organization dedicated to species in peril.
