Musharraf faces impeachment

ISLAMABAD: After three days of intense talks, the PPP-led ruling coalition in Pakistan announced on Thursday that it had decided to impeach President Pervez Musharraf, warning that any move by him to fight back by dissolving Parliament would be rejected by the nation. A joint declaration drafted by the PPP and its main ally, the Pakistan Muslim league (N), and accepted by other partners in the coalition, listed the reasons for the move. I am very curious to see who will step up to lead Pakistan... and what role america will "play" in pressuring officials. Its my belief that a super nationalist will jump into power who is completely opposite of america's wants and will gain the support of the people. Thus making Pakistan yet another threat to U.S. objectives in the region...

well I believe the political tide is shifting...but I think at least for this round of leaders America will be very persistent in pushing their interests in the area and another pro american leader will be "placed" into power. What importance does Pakistan hold for American interests in the region...? A jump off point to closer countries. i think Pakistan is very unstable and has shown a lot of animosity towards america in the past by giving exile to terrorists. How is that an american interest?
