AFP Published:Â Wednesday, August 06, 2008 LOS ANGELES - A helicopter transporting firefighters in California crashed, leaving four people with serious injuries and nine others missing, the National Transportation and Security Board said Wednesday. The Sikorsky S-61N was carrying 13 people - 11 firefighters and two pilots - and crashed for unknown reasons late Tuesday around 55 kilometers (34 miles) northwest of Redding in northern California. The chopper burst into flames on impact. "Of the 13 people reported to be on-board, four suffered serious injuries; nine are unaccounted for and are presumed to be fatally injured," the NTSB said in a statement.
