CHICAGO - A lawsuit has been filed by the city of Chicago against a company that operated a bus involved in a fatal collision with a fire truck. The lawsuit against Alltown Bus Service seeks more than $350,000. The city is attempting to recover the costs of a fire truck, repairs to a light pole and other costs from the crash in March 2007. The school bus, driven by Darlene Lewis, hit a fire truck on its way to an emergency. Killed in the accident was 44-year-old William Grant, a father of three and a 20-year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department. Police cited Lewis for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. She was also named in the lawsuit. At the time of the accident, authorities said the school bus clipped the back of the fire truck, sending it spinning out of control.
