Tyco Electronics cutting about 100 jobs

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Tyco Electronics Ltd. is eliminating about 100 North American jobs, about half of them cut from two central Pennsylvania facilities. Tyco Electronics announced the measures Wednesday, citing depressed demand from the automotive and consumer appliance industries. In addition to job cuts at two Harrisburg-area facilities, Tyco spokesman Mike Ratcliff said workers at facilities in North Carolina, Michigan, Mexico and Canada will be affected. The Berwyn, Pa.-based company also plans to shift a majority of its manufacturing operations at a Harrisburg facility to operations elsewhere.
