by Alexandra Matoshko, Kyiv Post Guide Editor After I first heard about the closing of Kvartira Babuin – a popular hangout for hip intellectuals, known for its artsy ambience, great books for sale and occasional cool gigs, I couldn’t help but wonder – what will replace it? A little while later the matter seemed settled. A Georgian restaurant simply called Georgia opened in its place, completely altering the atmosphere – live music remained, but it was obviously of a very different kind. However, Georgia proved short-lived – perhaps it simply wasn’t the right place for the high-end appeal the restaurant had, and most former regulars of Kvartira were quite bemused at what they found in its place. Now, the newest signboard above the door reads Draft, and so far it looks like a comeback to what the location originally was known... [read full story]
