'Maddie' witness reveals hopes DUTCH shop worker - Anna Stam - who could have seen Maddie just days after she vanished today told friends she “dearly hoped” her information would help. Ms Stam, 41, returned to work at the Dam’s party shop, in the Middenweg district of Amsterdam, where she spotted a young girl of Maddie's description, this morning. She told colleagues she felt “totally overwhelmed” after details of her sighting were made public by police yesterday. The girl was seen in Ms Stam's shop with an odd couple – and told the assistant: “They took me from my holiday.” Today it emerged that private detectives for Kate and Gerry McCann were now investigating her claim.
