By Travis Sawchik - tsawchik@thesunnews.com CONWAYCoastal Carolina coach David Bennett said an improving Jamie Childers was released from a Charleston-area hospital Monday. The redshirt freshman was admitted Friday after blood tests revealed he had contracted viral meningitis. Bennett said Childers will meet with a doctor today, when he could receive a new timetable for his return. The initial diagnosis was that Childers would miss three to six weeks, which in a best-case scenario would have Childers missing nearly the entire training camp and likely the Aug. 30 season opener at Penn State. Bennett said the team needs to make sure Childers is "not contagious" before he rejoins the team.
