Suffolk considers four-day school week

04:27 PM EDT on Monday, August 4, 2008 SUFFOLK – Summer vacation is winding down, but school administrators across Hampton Roads have been wrangling with budgets and how to cover the increased cost of fuel. In Suffolk, school officials are considering a shorter school week. Four days instead of five, but longer time in school on those four days. Several systems, including Va. Beach and Portsmouth, went to a four-day week during the summer. But so far, none is considering doing that into the fall, except Suffolk. Single parents like Tanisha Smith say it could be a strain.
