The 3-2 defeat at Barnet on Saturday, followed by the comments made by manager Aidy Boothroyd, did little to lift the spirits of this Hornets fan. I don’t want to bore you with my ramblings about the huge worries I have about my beloved Watford, but as they are growing by the day, I’m going to anyway! With a wonderful pre-season now behind us, during which we have drawn with Brentford and lost to MK Dons and Barnet, we have our manager saying: “It has been disappointing and is not good enough. The goals we conceded were poor and it’s going to be a long week.” Well, as a fan, I feel very motivated now! Aidy Boothroyd is quite right when he says that if Watford go to Crystal Palace in their first league game next weekend and win, then the gloom of the pre-season will be forgotten.
