Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 3 Universities should focus more on research, which will automatically lead to quality in teaching, according to the former President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Speaking after inaugurating MBA in health care and hospital management and a workshop on trauma and pain management at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) here, Dr Kalam said the top universities in the world achieve excellence by taking up innovative research projects. “During the last nine months, I have visited 19 leading universities in the world, including 10 in the US and six in Europe. I found all these universities concentrated on research driven by innovation,” he said. The higher research content in universities would improve quality of teaching, he observed.
