ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO FRIDAY, 3 AUGUST 1883 ANDOVER - THE FIRE BELL We notice that the Corporation have at last effected a desirable change with regard to designating where the bell-pull is placed and how it is to be reached in case of fire. One of the windows near where the rope hangs has been removed and a painted board put in its place, on which are painted the words "Fire Bell: push," so that now there will be no necessity to force open the door of the Corn Exchange to get at the rope, as was the case at a recent fire.
