New Village Arts' recently announced 2008-09 season is shaped around a California theme. A look at what's coming: “Fool for Love,” Oct. 4-26: Dana Case directs Sam Shepard's sharp, no-holds-barred tale of feuding lovers. “Off the Ground,” Dec. 6-21: A reprise of the original holiday comedy by Amy Chini and ensemble member Tom Zohar. Joshua Everett Johnson directs. “Bulrusher,” Feb. 7 to March 1, 2009: Kristianne Kurner directs this play set at the dawn of the civil-rights movement and written by Eisa Davis (seen recently on Broadway in “Passing Strange”). “Be Aggressive,” April 4-26, 2009: Torrey Pines High grad Annie Weisman's satirical work debuted at La Jolla Playhouse in 2001; it chronicles a discontented San Diego cheerleader's coming of age.
