Long Beach Grand Prix to run April 19

The 2009 event will be the second race on the IndyCar schedule. LONG BEACH -- The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will run on April 19 as the second race in the 18-race 2009 IndyCar Series schedule, officials announced today. The IndyCar season will begin in St. Petersburg, Fla., on April 5 and end at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 11. Of the 18 races, five will be contested on temporary street circuits, three on permanent road courses and 10 on ovals. "We're very excited about hosting the IndyCar Series here next April as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach," said Jim Michaelian, President and CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, in a news release.
