World music artists produce a scorcher at WOMAD

Charlton Park, Malmesbury, Wiltshire by ARWA HAIDER - Monday, July 28, 2008 Rachid Taha performs at WOMAD Britain's summer officially turned scorching this weekend – not just because the sun was out in force, but thanks to a scorching international bill at 2008's Womad festival. Now in its 18th year, this annual celebration of global music and dance has settled in beautifully at its newish home of Charlton Park (following a muddy move here last year); it was possible to fully appreciate a site which included several exciting arenas – an outdoor stage, three sizeable performance tents (Siam, Little Sicily and the Big Red Tent), the BBC Radio 3 stage (located within the grounds' stunning arboretum) and spaces for dance, percussion and cookery workshops.
