Active St. Paul’s member, Mason worked at Strimbu James W. Choffel, 53 White Ave., Sharon, passed away peacefully at 5:39 p.m. Thursday (7-24-08) in his residence after a brief illness. He was 76. Mr. Choffel was born Thursday, March 31, 1932, in Meadville to Leo and Gladys Schwietzer Choffel. For 26 years, he worked for Nick Strimbu Inc., Brookfield, where he had been the shop foreman. As an active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Hermitage, Mr. Choffel belonged to the Altar Guild and the Men’s Club and formerly served as an elder. A Free and Accepted Mason, he belonged to Lodge 810, Hermitage; and the Scottish Rite’s New Castle Consistory. An Army veteran, he served in Korea from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958.
