Gilani vows to fight Pakistani terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, July 26 (UPI) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani vowed Saturday to increase anti-terrorism efforts in his country. Gilani, who is heading to the United States to meet with U.S. President George Bush, reiterated his stance that Pakistan will not be used as a base by terrorists and vowed to fight against "extremism and terrorism," the Alalam News Network reported. "It is in the interest of Pakistan to curb extremism and terrorism," he said. Yet Gilani warned that any outside efforts to fight terrorists in Pakistan by countries such as the United States would not be tolerated. "The fight against extremism and terrorism is Pakistan's own cause," the prime minister said.
