Published 07/26/2008 By Stephen Igo WISE — As is always the case at a Remote Area Medical (RAM) Health Expedition at the Wise County Fairgrounds, need overwhelmed the nation’s largest free basic health care event. It’s just that the need seems to grow even larger every year than the event itself. “(On opening day Friday) we had 1,500 people come in and, unfortunately, probably another 500 had to be turned away,” said Knoxville-based RAM Volunteer Corps founder Stan Brock on Saturday. “There were two primary reasons for that. First, we were maxed out in the treatment area. And second, the parking area was maxed out.
