International flavour at flora fest

JOHOR BARU: For the first time, the Malaysia Flora Fest saw two foreign teams taking part. The teams were from the Suzhou Tourism Bureau of China and the Macau Government Tourist Office. Beautifully decorated floats filed past, each constructed to showcase the many attractions of the country. Terengganu’s float, themed “Nature is Terengganu’s Greatest Heritage” won the grand Premier Trophy for its marine theme with clown fish, anemones, razor fish and seahorse models. Selangor's float, however, had some technical problems and broke down. There were also school marching bands, costume parades and performances. The event launched by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin drew thousands of tourists.
