Ben Smith 15 minutes ago The Democrats of Alabama would like many things from Senator Barack Obama, and when they have a request, they turn as often as not to Congressman Artur Davis, an early and prominent supporter of the Democratic nominee. Davis has found himself explaining to the Alabama state Democratic Party that Obama probably won't attend their annual dinner. He's fielded requests from an elementary school principal hoping that Obama could visit her class, and from a young woman who would like to sing the national anthem for the Illinois senator. "Our Democratic Senate candidate wanted to know if I could arrange for her to be the keynote speaker this year at the convention in Denver," Davis recalled.
