After coming home from the market you may put your fruits and vegetables in the fridge, or you just may take a bite. But before they reach your refrigerator or your mouth they need a good scrubbing. From pesticides, to wax, to other people's dirty fingers...you'll find just about everything on your produce. Sanford Registered Dietician Leanne Kramer says, “It's been touched, it's been picked, it's been processed, lots of people have handled it and if they didn't wash their hands then you're just ingesting that stuff too.” According to Kramer, a good washing is necessary for fruits and veggies even those that you peel or that have a rind. “You don't eat the melon outside but you take a knife and you cut through them you actually can transfer bacteria that's all on the outside and those are growing in dirt.” Kramer says soap...
