Tens of thousands are expected to gather in Ankara today to participate in a demonstration organized by a group of nongovernmental organizations in protest of coup attempts and initiatives outside the boundaries of democracy. Participants in the demonstration will demand more democracy and respect for the will of the nation. This comes at a time when the governing Justice and Development Party (AK Party) faces a closure case at the Constitutional Court and an historic investigation has been opened into Ergenekon, a neo-nationalist organization claimed to have been making preparations to topple the government.
