Saturday, July 26, 2008 By our correspondent LAHORE: Justice Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court has held that no one can be detained without any solid evidence leading to his involvement in a crime. The judge held this while annulling the detention order of Shabbir Ahmed Bhatti, the brother of a former MPA Rasheed Ahmad Bhatti. The judge further ruled that keeping in view the health of the petitioner (Shabbir), who was in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), and in the absence of any material, he could not be kept detained any more. The petitioner submitted that the government on July 06 had detained him for 45 days, declaring him a threat to the law and order situation.
