by Julie Harker The new rate increase for the Iowa Corn Checkoff will go into effect on September first based on this month’s decisive vote. On Friday, Ag Secretary Bill Northey and the Iowa Department of Agriculture certified the results from the July 8th referendum. Producers voted to increase the corn checkoff rate by one-fourth of a cent per bushel of marketed corn. Seventy-three percent of producers voted for the increase. Only a simple majority was needed.
