Can we say, “What a difference ten months makes?” just yet? Perhaps, perhaps not. But when the New York Mets got finished with the Philadelphia Phillies this week, those weren’t the Phillies preparing to pull the corks or the Mets slinking meekly into oblivion with their tails between their legs. This time, those were the Mets picking themselves up, dusting themselves off, after that only-too-reminiscent Tuesday night bullpen reprise of Gasoline Alley in the top of the ninth, and starting all over again by taking the next pair and, by the way, taking sole possession of the top of the NL East for their trouble.
