Washington is not one of the top 10 states for biotechnology (ranked by R&D, patents, university grant funding and other factors), according to a report in Business Facilities magazine. Joe Tartakoff notes that it is the second time this year that the state has not made a list of the top markets for biotech. AT&T is asking the Federal Communications Commission to deny the merger between Sprint Nextel and Clearwire. According to Dow Jones, AT&T is objecting to the merger because Sprint Nextel and Clearwire are discounting the spectrum they will receive from schools, cities and non-profits. Meanwhile, Clearwire continues to expand service, with The Union Record reporting that the Kirkland broadband service provider has won a contract to provide service to the Georgia town of Milledgeville.
