Probe of metal recycling schemes nets two arrests

Originally posted by ABC7 News on: Friday, July 25, 2008 CHARLOTTE COUNTY: Vigilant recycling centers have helped the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office clear up investigations involving stolen roofing material, a boat and other metal items that have been sold off for cash, authorities said. Two men have been arrested in separate incidents. Detectives looking into the July 4 theft of a dryer and refrigerator from a Port Charlotte home visited B&S Recycling, also in Port Charlotte, and learned from the manager that the items had been purchased from a man on July 5, reports said. The manager, who said the man was a regular at the center, and that a video had been taken of the man’s truck and trailer, reports said.
