Mary Lyon is unabashedly in love with politics. While she was in high school, her best friend’s father was the undersecretary of commerce to President Kennedy. Her friend’s family invited Lyon and her four-person rock band to play at their home for important journalists and politicians: it was there that Lyon’s interest in journalism and politics began.She worked on political campaigns throughout high school and developed a news program at her college radio station. “What was really fun was because we were a college station, there was no department.
