EL PASO TO RECEIVE NEARLY $6 MILLION IN HOMELAND SECURITY GRANTS Washington, D.C. - Congressman Silvestre Reyes, D-El Paso, announced today that the Department of Homeland Security will award nearly $6 million in federal grants through the Homeland Security Grant Program. For the second year in row, El Paso has been selected to receive funding under the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). This year, the Department of Homeland Security will award El Paso $5,665,000 under the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) program. These funds are in addition to the $5.82 million in funding received in 2007. El Paso also received $321,221 under the Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) to further enhance and sustain a comprehensive regional mass casualty incident response capability for response to all-hazards mass casualty...
