Goa is optimistic of getting representation in the cabinet following talks of cabinet expansion at the Centre doing rounds. “We might get a chance this time,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Fransisco Sardinha told reporters here. “We have been requesting representation in the cabinet for quite some time. The request stands even now,” he said. Sardinha, who is also a Lok Sabha member, said that the representation is needed as “Goa is a state”. Goa has three MPs, two representing Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha. While Congress has one Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha member each, Bharatiya Janata Party has one Lok Sabha MP. Fransisco Sardinha and Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, both are in the race for the ministerial post, if Goa’s case is considered, sources said.
