After three days at the 2008 World Youth Championships of bowling, Dean Richards figured he had nothing to lose. Going into team competition Tuesday, the 21-year-old graduate of Foss High School had subpar showings in singles and doubles play at one of the most prestigious events for youth bowlers. “At that point, I just wanted to help my team,” said Richards, a member of the Junior Team USA bowling squad. But not only would he help Team USA win a bronze medal, Richards’ furious rally in the final days resulted in a silver medal in the individual Masters draw. “The experience was amazing,” said Richards, who has been bowling since he was 6 years old. “(The event) was truly in a different level.
